When your SIM card stops working or your Android phone displays an ” Invalid SIM card ” or “No SIM card” notification for whatever reason, your phone becomes almost completely worthless.
The question now is why we receive these notifications on our Android phones and how we can solve this issue. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
Invalid SIM Card message on Android – What to do
To know what to do here, we first have to ask; what is the meaning of the ” No SIM card ” or ” Invalid SIM card ” notification?
There are three scenarios in which your Android phone may display this notification:
- You forgot to insert your SIM card.
- The device is unable to detect the SIM card.
- Loose SIM card connection
Now that you’re aware of the basic causes, next, we’ll go over the technical reasons for receiving the “Invalid SIM card” alert.
The Causes of the Android Device ” Invalid SIM card ” Error
Along with the three reasons mentioned previously, your phone may experience two technical issues that result in this error.
- Network Lock: There are network providers that implement network locks on their phones. In this case, the phone can only be used with the SIM card that came with it.
- Region Lock: This lock could have been set by the device’s manufacturer. But when it gets triggered? For instance, this message may appear if you insert a SIM card from a region or country other than the default setting.

Restart your android phone
When the phone displays No SIM card, the most straightforward and immediate action is to restart it. Fortunately, if any changes take place and the message is no longer displayed, you are lucky and do not need to test the alternative solutions.
Insert a working SIM card
Inserting a working SIM card can be helpful. If an active SIM card is usable on the phone, potentially the problem is with your SIM card. If it still does not work, you should inspect your phone tray to determine whether it is broken or damaged.
Re-insert the SIM card
A misaligned SIM card is another possible cause of the Invalid SIM card error. While resolving the problem, it is critical to exercise caution, as any scratch on the SIM card will result in additional issues.
To remove the SIM card, follow these steps:
- First of all, you should shut your android phone down. If the battery is removable, take it out. Then you will see the SIM card beneath the battery. Remove the SIM card and then re-insert it. Now switch your mobile on, and if the notification is gone so, it’s okay.
- If your phone is one of the late models, you should use a suitable SIM card remover tool. To do this, insert the remover tool in and push it gently. The tray will eject automatically. Re-insert the SIM card and check if the notification is gone or not.
Clear the cache and data on your android phone
You can also try clearing the cache and data.
- Navigate to Setting > Storage > Internal Storage > Cached data.
- A message will show on the screen of your Android phone after tapping the Cache data. It says that clicking delete will remove the cache for all apps. At this point, tap “Delete.”

Reset the Network Setting

Switch to safe mode

Here’s what you need to do:
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network that provides a stable internet connection.
- Open the Settings menu

Change Network APN settings manually
If there is an issue between the device and the network, you should configure the APN settings manually.
To do this, follow the steps below:

- Tap on the “+” sign.
